Why synthetic turf is better than organic grass for roofs.
Rooftop Greenery
Green rooftops have been making a difference in cities across the world. Green rooftops deliver shade, absorb heat from the atmosphere, and decrease the roof surface and the air temperatures surrounding it. These types of rooftops are a ideal way to increase square footage and improve mental health by adding a green outdoor space in the concrete jungle. By going synthetic, you can open up the opportunities for implementing a creative space in an otherwise boring location.
Advantages of Synthetic Grass Rooftops
There are numerous benefits to installing synthetic turf on a rooftop. Here are some of our personal favorites:
Easy to Clean
Synthetic turf is extremely simple to keep clean and fresh-looking.
Lightweight
When compared to organic grass, it poses no safety risks or hazards, such as root and water damage.
Supplies Insulation
Protects building interiors from extreme heat and can offer immunity to decomposition, mold, or mildew.
Less Maintenance
Artificial turf will last for a very long time and requires minimal maintenance if installed properly.
Adds Value
Creates a quick getaway while staying in the concrete jungle.
Safe Space for Kids & Pets
With synthetic grass, your kids and pets will not be exposed to potentially dangerous pesticides, weedkillers, and fertilizers.
Create A Unique Look
Artificial turf makes it convenient to place turf where traditional grass won’t grow, and you can create unique figures, or even hang them on walls if you want to.
Which Fiber Type Should You Use?
There are several factors to consider when picking synthetic grass, not to mention what would be look good on a rooftop. Here are some critical elements to consider when evaluating options:
Nylon is a durable fabric, however, outdoor spaces are vulnerable to expansion/contraction and will probably fade.
We recommend nylon for indoor use or scenarios with extreme commercial traffic or non-fill spots. All non-infill nylon Shaw products are subjected to extensive flammability testing to meet building codes.
We recommend using an infill PE tape product on a business rooftop.
PE tape is durable without compromising performance; top-quality PE resins are resistant to fading and not vulnerable to contraction and expansion. Our Play-Safe collection provides premium performance for this application.
