EVAPORATIVE COOLING TECHNOLOGY
Perspiration is a natural means of thermoregulation called evaporative cooling. Evaporation of condensation from the skin’s surface has a cooling effect. In a similar manner, HydroChill® has been shown to cool artificial green surfaces by working on the same scientific method. As the turf surface is heated up by solar radiation, water stored in the HydroChill® turf is let go. Evaporating moisture removes heat, leaving behind a cooler, more pleasant green for the players.
- HydroChill® implements moisture to provide a cooling effect. Rainfall, dew, and irrigation can help keep your lawn cool for days, contingent on local weather conditions.
- HydroChill® can be incorporated into almost any Southwest Greens' infilled lawn systems.
- HydroChill® will not hinder the durability or warranty of Southwest Greens’ products.
- HydroChill® is UV-resistant and must be re-treated every two years for maximum efficiency.
WHEN IS IT MOST EFFECTIVE?
Environmental temperature outside does not always determine surface temperature. The solar radiation time period, the sun’s angle, cloud cover, wind, and other elements all add to the temperature of the surface.
HydroChill® offers maximum benefit when the sun is closer to the Earth, as demonstrated in the solar radiation calendar. Throughout the summer in Austin, the sun rests high in the sky, causing surfaces to absorb more energy, resulting in hotter temperatures. The rotation of the Earth is likewise responsible for hourly variations in light thus making HydroChill® most efficient during the hotter time of a clear day when most needed.
